The Trust

The Trust's aims are to ensure the continuance operation and maintenance of the Downs Light Railway for the purpose of educating young people in MECHANICAL and OPERATIONAL SKILLS, while providing a constructional medium in MECHANICAL ELECTRICAL AND CIVIL ENGINEERING and WORK SHOP PRACTICE and for general educational purposes.

The Objectives

The Trust achieves its aims through its objectives, which are to:

1. To make the Railway available as a Teaching Medium firstly, for the use of the Downs School and secondly, in other directions as deemed appropriate. This is undertaken by the Trust itself, through its voluntary members.

2. Independently finance the railway, via non-profiting means. We do this via donations, supporting the Downs School's activities and in some cases to the immediate community.
